Welcome to Our Fundraising Page! We are Sibel and Henri Pinto, a chef and a health professional. 

Working in the kitchens and seeing the food wasted, I felt concerned about the realities of global hunger. Thus my husband and I have been inspired to take our own action!

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, one third of all food produced globally (around 1.3 billion tons per year) for human consumption is wasted. Think of the increasing number of people who are struggling with hunger. Limiting or reducing waste generated is really the most important strategy for dealing with food waste. Wasting food is not only an ethical, a social and an economical issue but it also depletes our environment of limited natural resources

We called our mission kashkarikas as this is the emblem dish of the traditional Sephardic cuisine using the peels of zucchini which I learnt from my Grandma Eliza who passed away recently. This is also a tribute to her and to all the women who put their hearts to feed their families with little and cheap ingredients.

During our project we give conferences, organize workshops and fundraising dinners.

We started the first part of our international project in January 2017. We were invited to Mexico to cook with Chef Jose Bossuet Martinez at Cafe Contento. The fundraising dinner took place on January 12, 2017 in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

Our second event took place in Paris, France. We cooked for Friday Tour Group and received their generous donation in March 2017.

Our 3rd stop was Istanbul, Turkey. We organised 5 workshops and a gala dinner with our local partners Okan University and Avrasya Ascilar Dernegi. We thank all our supporters and sponsors. We collected the great sum of 1037,23$.

On May 28th, 2017 -during the Festival Point Blue- we organised a cooking workshop with On June 25th 2017 Parisian Turks and friends got together to celebrate the beginning of summer and Eid holiday. Turkish-Sephardic delicacies, prepared by chef Sibel Pinto were tasted and the donation was transferred to Action Against Hunger. Happy Holidays!

We'll continue to work with the local universities, associations, restaurants, kitchen teams to teach/prepare tasty and healthy food by better use of recovered discarded food, low-cost and local ingredients and making something tasty out of it using mostly traditional family recipes. The mission aims to raise funds and the proceeds will be transferred to Action Against Hunger.

By working together, people can make small changes that collectively have a big impact for a better world. With your contributions, we can help Action Against Hunger bring immediate relief and long-term solutions to starving children and families around the world. Every act of generosity counts- small or big, all donations make an impact!
